Public Apology

I wanted to make a public apology to someone that was offended by one of my postings. I know we offend people sometimes by our views and opinions but my wording and something specific was hurtful and was brought to my attention this evening so I thought I would let her know that I was sorry. What better way to do it then here, where the offense took place.
I few weeks ago we were discussing Public vs Private schools and I made a comment about how my sister n law felt about them. It was brought to my attention that I was misrepresenting what she felt and what I said was hurtful to her. SO, since I am not a fan of hurting peoples feelings and like for any unrest to be resolved I want to apologize from the bottom of my heart! I also would like to amend what I said about her feelings on private schools. She does not think that they should all be shut down but simply prefers that her children go to a public school. I knew that she was passionate about that and was not accurate in what I thought her feelings toward private schools were. Again, Missy, I am very sorry!
Isn't it great to have the opportunity to humble myself in front of friends, family and God and I don't even have to leave my couch! :) Thank goodness for blogs and laptops! LOL
Missy, I hope that you read this and know that I truly am sorry and that you are family and that you are loved and accepted.

Wow, if it's an consolation I barely remember that posting and don't remember you mentioning her name. But, good of you to try to make things right! You are a good Sister-in-law. At first, I thought you were talking about me! LOL!

Being humble takes a lot of courage and integrity! You didn't have to make this public but you did...which I think makes your apology that much more sincere! I really respect how you handled this situation! Have a great day!

Hey Sara,it's Kari (yes, I am actually on your blog page, first time for everything) this has nothing to do with schools but it does have to do with you. Anyway when you first started teaching Jack manners, and told him to say yes Ma'm to you, I thought it was pretty silly ( no offence ) but anyway Ellie now says it to me every now and then, but it also made me realize how important manners are, (not that I never taught my kids manners) but just recently we remodeled our kitchen and did a lot of eating out and more often than not an elderly couple leaving would stop and say what well behaved children we had, and I thought how sweet, but recently in the grocery store Caleb was in someones way and they said, excuse me, his reply was that he was sorry, the lady caught up with me later and just went on how impressed she was with his manners, that he said sorry to her, instead of just walking away. I thought she was over doing it but after thinking about it, kids these days dont have much manners, and it made me think of you, and how good it is that you are teaching your children good manners. Okay I've really been rambling on too long now. Just wanted to say, I don't think your being ridiculous any more, I think your being an awesome mommy, who will have very well behaved children. Okay, I'm done. Talk to you soon, love, Kari

Oh Kari,
That was sooo nice. I know Sara, and she's probably smiling right now, if not doing a happy dance!! LOL! Manners are very impt. I'm not the best at enforcing great manners with my kids, but I try. I like for my kids to say Yes Ma'am with others, but not to me. To me, it sounds too formal and impersonal to be used with your own mother. I prefer, yes mom or yes please, etc... But, everyone has to find what works for them. I think the attitude is more impt than them saying specific words. Maybe as a child growing up in the South, the Yes, Ma'am thing got shoved down my throat a little too much that now it just seemed like it was a habit with no real respect or good attitide behind the words. JMO. Anyway, Sara is a great mom and a great SIL!!

Thanks Kari, I am Super impressed that you even posted on my blog! YAY!! Now that you know how you dont have any excuses!
Your post made me smile AND do the happy dance! :) I know alot of people (here especially) dont quite get the whole yes maam thing but it is something that I grew up with and means alot to me. Like Elizabeth said, you have to do what is comfortable for you and your family. Daniel and I think its an important basis for teaching our kids respect for adults and how to talk to them plus we think its Super cute. :)I also personally like it for myself, maybe because of my background.
My mom used to tell me how much it blessed her when other parents told her how polite we were. We, of course, had times with attitudes at home but we KNEW what good manners were and it was noticed by others. I hope that it sticks with my boys and I am able to have the experience my own mother did. :)
