Pink, Blue, Orange or Seafoam green, Who the Heck Cares?

I started thinking the other day (I do that sometimes when my kids are sleeping, haha) about colors and why people get all weird about certain colors for certain genders. I personally, am of the thought that a color is a color, no more, no less, so if my son likes pink then who the hell cares, its just a color, right. I mean, who decided that pink was for girls and blue was for boys? I didnt read it in my bible so I am pretty sure that when we were created God didnt designate colors for males and females. How did we get to where we are today where men dont want their boys wearing pink or coloring with the pink crayon etc...? Who decided pink was girly? And for that matter, why is there a double standard? Why can girls wear whatever color they want but boys shouldnt wear "girly colors"? Girls can play softball and be cool, but a male ballet dancer is assumed gay? HUH? What man wouldnt want to hang out with girls in leotards all day? Anyway, what are your thought and opinions?

Little-known fashion tip, from Esquire magazine:

Men look fantastic in pink, purple, coral, and turquoise. ALL MEN.

Take that, girly police!

My dad often wears pink, and it looks FANTASTIC with his white hair.

I wish I could get my hubby to wear pink. I think some guys are so hot when they wear pink polos or striped shirts that have some pink in them!

And my hubby wouldn't let me get pink shirts for the boys last Easter either. ugh... They would have been so cute and pastelly for Easter pics!

As for me I don't care about colors. Zoe loves Blue and Green and like to be girly sometimes and climb trees at other times. When Zoe was a baby, we didn't knwo what we were having. John made me get blue Pooh bedding for her b/c anything else would have been too girly is she was a boy when she came out. Ridiculous. I', not sure I'd do that again, If I could get a do-over. LOL!

Yah, I think most women could care less but alot of men have allowed the culture to tell them whats manly and whats not. I think its SUPER HOT when men wear colors like that because, imo, its saying that they are confident amd dont care what those big ignorant hillbilly men think. Men with style are Hot!

Sara, I agree with you guys about guys wearing light colors including pink. Yesterday your Dad had a business lunch and he had a very conservative suit with a white shirt and a very shiny/bright light pink tie. It looked GREAT and it made him look extremely confident. He has several pink shirts and ties. He also has a pair of seersucker pants. Plus, everyone always complements your Dad on how great he dresses (men and women). Of course there are those days where he decided to mix and match - ouch!!! You know stripped pants with a paisley shirt!!! LOL

As far as what our husband wear just buy them that pink shirt, tie or stripped pants and tell them this is what your wearing today! Please make sure they match ;-)

Men need to learn to wear the colors that look best on them. So What if it is pink, purple or taupe.

When I first was dating Kirk, he showed up in a purple sweatsuit...since then we have always teased him about being Barney...lol. Honestly, I don't care if guys wear whatever color, he just needed a whole new wardrobe! I would never pick purple or pink for him because I don't think he looks good in those colors except may in a tie or some other kind of accent. But he does look great in a burgundy or dark wine color.

My son loves pink....he has a lot of pink shirts (polos, strips, and t's) and he looks gorgeous in them with his blond hair and blue eyes. I was surprised when he started liking pink, but he is a very confident person and doesn't really care what society thinks about those kind of things. He has even wore pink hats, pink fox belt buckle, pink tongue rings.....HE IS SO CUTE and has great style. He even picks out his girlfriends clothes!

Lots of guys look great in pink, purple, yellow and lots of women look great in blue, green, and brown.

OK, time for some Testosterone here. First, I will gratefully acknowledge the very kind comments of my wife (above). I will then say I love pink, fuscia, mauve, puce or lavender... any thing as long as it attracts women. ;-) Who cares what guys think!

Why don't men like pink? It's not so much that we think it's girly or weak. It's started with the washing machine. Pink is the color we don't like because it is a reminder that we tried to do our own dirty cloths and we washed our red shirt with our white cloths and now it's all PINK. HAHAHA
