Tell me Yours....

So, all this talk of piercings, tattoos, etc has gotten me thinking of other peoples tattoo choices. I mean, since a tattoo is so permanent whatever people get is typically pretty special so I wonder what people have chosen to get and why or if you don't have one, what would you get if you were to get one? I have comedy/tragedy masks on my ankle which I wanted for 6 years before I actually got them and they are obviously representative of my love for theatre. I have had my tattoo for about 8 years and still love it! Does anyone have one that they wish that they didn't?
Tell me all about your tattoos! LOL! :)

I have a "rugged wooden cross" which is special to me because that was one of my grandma's favorite hymns. Literally, as she was laying on her death bed, she asked I sing it to her. I did not know the words and it broke my heart that I could not sing it. Instead I offered to sing Amazing Grace because I knew it. Now whenever I hear it, it makes me cry and I will always remember that with a little regret for not being able to sing it. Around the cross is draped a rope with a feather on each end, to symbolize the call for Native America that Day (and I) have felt for some time. And in hard to read script letters it says "Creator Came Down" which is a song about Jesus being God's son and coming down to us on earth. It is the name of a CD that Robert Soto, a Lipan Apache friend of ours, made of pow wow drum music. I'd like to get another some time of a couple crazy Boston Terrier faces, for obvious reasons.

I have a Chinese symbol for "patience" on the back of my neck, which happens to be my name, "Jen." Oh no wait, that's the one I WOULD HAVE if I wasn't chickenshit:)

Okay, so I decided to get brave and tell my tattoo story. Bottom line is good thing we don't have to keep these bodies in eternity...LOL! I have 2 tattoos and really wish that I wouldn't have gotten either...but guess what.....too late!! One is of a rugged cross that has/had a rose in the middle and three plaques with my children's names. It's ugly, I hate it. You can't tell there is a rose in the center, and you can't read the kids names. An amateur did it, only I thought at the time, he was a professional. The drawing of it was really nice just didn't turn out so great on my arm where everyone can see it. It gets worse as I get older!! I wasn't told to keep it out of the sun or use sunblock, so it got sunburnt and scarred and all the colors faded and ran together and it just looks yucky. Some people are like oh that is really cool....and I am like.. what?? When they ask what it is, I say "It is a moment of ignorance that took place in my younger years". Others stare at it like there is something wrong, and I have before said...what?? you never seen a screwed up tattoo before??
The other one is on my chest and is two hearts connected....I really like the tattoo but it has a man's name on it and it is not my husband's name because it was before I even knew him.
I know someone who is an excellent tattoo artist and he has told me a couple of times that he could cover up the one on my arm but geez that would take up my entire upper arm. And he said that he could fix the one on my chest too. I just haven't taken the time to do it. Should I? I am 41, I think maybe I should just ride it out! Maybe I should have taken him up on it before when he said he would do it for free.
So, how was that for a nice tattoo story.....lol.
Never get a tattoo when you are young, stupid, and haven't given it much thought...
Always think about what it will look like 20 years in to the future.

I have a green tropical frog tattoo... Long story....
Would I do it again? Well...no.
If I HAD to do it again, I'd get the same thing...but if I could undo the tattoo--i would.

My mom told me to wait 5 or 6 yrs and if I still wanted the same thing then I should get it and sure enough I waited 6 yrs and ended up getting the same thing I told my mom I wanted when I was 15. I did get lucky because I had a great artist do it and it has held up GREAT, so far anyway.

No tattoos for me, and no piercings. I have tons of holes in my ears, but I never even where earring anymore, I kept losing them when I would take them out and leave them laying around, and then they would somehow always end up getting sucked up in the vacum cleaner. So now I am just a plain mom. LOL.....I guess I am getting old! :)
